ECHOES OF GOND
CENTRAL HIGHLANDS · PATTERN & SPIRIT · THE SACRED FOREST
"Every motif, every animal, every leaf is filled with smaller repeated patterns — dots, lines, scales, and geometric shapes. Nothing is left empty. The art breathes."
The Green Mountains of Central India
Gond art originates from the Gond tribe — one of the largest tribal communities in central India, primarily from Madhya Pradesh. The word “Gond” itself comes from the Dravidian word Kond, meaning green mountains, which reflects the tribe's deep connection to their forested homeland.
The art form began as wall paintings and floor art, created as part of sacred rituals and seasonal celebrations. Over time it moved from walls to paper, canvas, and cloth — but the spirit stayed the same.
Honoring Every Living Spirit
Gond art is a celebration of nature. It documents the relationship between humans, animals, and plants through intricate patterned motifs, mythological creatures, and the belief that every living thing carries a spirit worth honoring.
The distinct visual rhythm comes from its meticulous micro-patterning — intricate geometries and fine linear strokes that fill every contour, bringing stillness into vivid movement.
ECHOES OF GOND is CLOY’s reinterpretation of this tradition into four wearable pieces — each one carrying a different emotion, a distinct rhythm, and an intimate story from within the Gond world.
THE FOUR EDITIONS
VEER
The Fearless OneVeer captures that quiet confidence — a creature that knows exactly where it belongs. The black colorway makes the print hit harder. Same animal, different world. Nocturnal, mythic, certain.
View Piece →BISRA · बिसरा
The Forgotten OneThis piece carries a question — about technology, about what we've stopped seeing, about the natural world that exists around us while we look elsewhere. The deer is still there. We just forgot to look.
View Piece →PRATIBIMB · प्रतिबिंब
ReflectionPratibimb captures that duality. Two becoming one. The question of which reflection is real. A symmetric visual dialogue rooted in primal equilibrium and introspection.
View Piece →SAATHI · साथी
Two Who Travel TogetherThis piece holds that warmth without overstating it. The mint colorway keeps it light. The kind of piece you reach for without thinking — an homage to quiet companionship.
